About Me

Hello!
My name is Justine de Mierre and I am an artist who creates, performs and facilitates live performance which has at its heart accessiblity and connection.
Welcome to my website!

My work encompasses storytelling, improvisation, music and theatre – and if you’re here, I would love to talk to you about any of those – at length!

The driving vision for my work for the last 25 years has been to create, perform and facilitate live performance that reaches and involves those who might not otherwise experience it.

To give you a taste of my work, here are a few ways that vision has manifested itself across the years:

– In the early 2000s my focus was on improvised and interactive performance in public spaces, as well as community created theatre work, with my company Ladder to the Moon

– Across the 2010s I developed my multi-faceted storytelling practice So whats the story performing and facilitating work in public spaces, festivals, prisons, schools, arts centres and beyond, and also began hosting safe spaces for community performance.

– In the 2020s I added to my storytelling work with theatre creation work with vulnerable groups, developed my improv company The Unqualified Yes and brought in online performance and facilitiation enabling even wider participation.

With the discovery of my neurodivergence around 2018, my work now has a specific focus on creating explicitly safe spaces for neurodivergent individuals to explore their creativity, and to explore my experience as a neurodivergent woman in the performance work that I create.

My passion for this extends to working with projects and community organisations – arts based or otherwise – as a consultant, to support, encourage and educate around what neurodivergent friendly practice actually entails.

Again, if you’re here, I would love to talk to you about this – at length! (I am an autist after all – which also explains the unusual amount of exclamation marks!)

Please have a look around my website to find out more about the various strands of my work, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if there’s anything you’d like to talk about further, or you’d like to explore ways we could work together.

Enjoy!

Justine
